Pierre Maheux, MSc, FGAC, PGeo, Principal at 30 Forensic Engineering (Environmental Division), will participate as a panel member for the Ontario Bar Association’s (OBA) Institute on February 8 in Toronto.
The OBA represents more than 16,000 lawyers working in the province and the OBA Institute is the association’s signature professional development event. It is an award winning initiative and Canada’s largest Continuing Professional Development event for the legal profession. The 2016 edition of the Institute used live and web-linked sessions to bring approximately 2,000 lawyers from across the province and beyond, together for a week of quality continuing professional development and networking.
Pierre will be participating in the 2017 Environmental Law Program, representing the Qualified Person/consultant’s perspective regarding the management of excess soil in Ontario. Management of excess soil has been and remains an increasingly growing concern in the province. The issue has received media attention with focus on illegal dumping of soil, site alteration by-laws, commercial fill operations, tracking excess soil, concern over the quality of excess soil, and protection of agricultural lands and the environment. Further, we are on the eve of a new regulation governing the characterization, movement, and placement of soil in Ontario.
