Our Associates perform on-site investigations to determine origin and cause of complex losses. Their process: examine and collect evidence, take on-site photos, interview witnesses, conduct testing in our lab and analyze data to produce technical reports that are clear and concise.



Mr. Vikash Nanthakumar is a co-operative student in the Biomechanics and Personal Injury Assessment group, currently completing a degree in biomedical engineering and health sciences. He has injury biomechanics experience investigating injury to hip and knee joints and gait analysis during recovery after prosthetic implantation.

Applications of Decellularized Extracellular Matrices as Scaffolds and Hydrogels, March 2019 - Present

  • Designed a project in tissue engineering for regenerative medicine using heart, liver and kidney tissue
  • Created written experiment protocols for SDS treatment, DNA quantification, glycosaminoglycan assay and collagen gelation
  • Developed a literature review on biomedical applications of hydrogels

Predicting Complete Blood Count Referrals using Machine Learning on Small Datasets, April 2019 – Present

  • Developed and implemented Random Forest, Logistic Regression, and Linear SVM learning models in Python for complete blood count (CBC) referral prediction using large datasets of patient health records

Re-designing Procedural Medication Use in Perioperative Care, September 2019 – April 2020

  • Assisted nurses and technicians when preparing and disposing medications before surgical procedures
  • Developed standardized protocols for safe narcotics storage and implementation of automated dispensing cabinets
  • Worked with anesthesiologist in the operating room to monitor patient vitals and medication use to identify workflow needs


Cardiac Function Simulator, October 2019 - Present

  • Managed core design and system instrumentation sub-teams using Slack and Microsoft Teams to create a modular simulator for patient-specific disease modelling
  • Modelled a dynamic control system to mimic patient hemodynamics using mechanical heart valves
  • Developed CAD models using SolidWorks to simulate a cardiac prototype with finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics

Computer Vision for Osteoarthritis Physiotherapy, January 2020 – May 2020

  • Designed a remote recovery monitoring system using Python and OpenCV for real-time dynamic patient motion and gait analysis during physiotherapy after total knee arthroplasty

Community Healthcare Accessibility Initiative, January 2020 – May 2020

  • Developed a project proposal with local physicians to improve medical service allocation with a focus on patient accessibility
  • Utilized strong verbal communication skills while working with patients to collect quantitative and qualitative data

Cancer Chemotherapy Modelling and Control Design Optimization, January 2021 – April 2021

  • Modelled chemotherapy uptake and regulation using MATLAB and Simulink based on patient parameters, scheduling dosages and drug degradation
