Environment

Contaminated Sites

Our environment professionals investigate the impact of contaminants in natural and built environments, then determine ways to manage them and, if required, provide clean-up services.

The approach we take is rooted in first principles of scientific research and the development of multiple lines of evidence. We draw on a wide range of environmental science and engineering disciplines to determine the extent, origin and cause of contamination. Along with our technical capabilities, we maintain a thorough knowledge of current government regulations and industry best practices.

More and more, there is legislation to protect the environment, leading many jurisdictions to test its interpretation and application. As environmental damage and clean-up costs continue to increase, there are more regulatory prosecutions and the courts are increasingly being used to determine the impact due to environmental damages in civil claims.

Expert witnesses sometimes offer conflicting interpretations of what happened, which can make environmental cases difficult to resolve quickly. This is where we help. Using formalized investigative methods, we work closely with litigation counsel, insurers, and regulators to promote solutions that meet the needs of our clients, while maintaining our independence and objectivity.

We bring years of collective experience in Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, and the management and clean-up of contaminated sites. Even so, our goal is to continually expand our expertise in environmental contaminant assessments to serve our clients as capably as possible.

  • Skilled technical capabilities matched with detailed regulatory knowledge
  • Rigorous scientific methodology
  • Advanced understanding of most current environmental science

Informed. Objective. Rigorous.

Indoor Environment

The Indoor Environment team assesses the extent and scope of environmental impacts related to hazardous materials, designated substances, water & mould, smoke & soot and other contaminants, and determines the necessary approach to clean-up per applicable regulations. We are often also asked to undertake preventative assessments or to develop health & safety protocols associated with indoor air quality, personal exposure, and designated substances surveys.

Our approach is grounded on a thorough understanding of state-of-the-science analytical means & methods which can provide raw assessment data of impacts. This data, combined with our extensive field experience and understanding of regulations, allows us to develop a custom-tailored remedial approach. By recognizing that no two sites or situations are the same, we can develop best-value approaches which recognize the unique challenges and constraints faced by our clients.

  • Deep technical capabilities matched with deep regulatory knowledge
  • Rigorous scientific methodology
  • Professional commitment to staying current with environmental science and governance

Certain. Thorough. Transparent.
